On the road with the great Colin Quinn

Colin Quinn is a comedian’s comedian. We met when we were both writing for, “In Living Color.” Nobody is more fun to hang out with. I’ve never laughed more than I did on that job.

Behind that Brooklyn accent is one of the smartest, most well-read people I’ve ever met. I’d find books like, “Brendan Behan’s Collected Short Prose” beneath the slew of empty Burger King wrappers in his car, A true dichotomy.

Quinn had been the co-host of MTV’s “Remote Control” a few years before we met. His career in front of the camera was in doubt. So I was thrilled when his brilliance was recognized, first on SNL, then his one man shows on HBO, which are absolute master classes in standup.

He’s as solid dude as there is, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to open for him and hang out on the road.
